Marlow Football Club
In 2007 Brian MacEntee had the opportunity to design a sports and leisure facility in Marlow, Buckinghamshire with North West Estates. NWE are a local developer who had seen an opportunity to relocate Marlow Football Club from its town centre location to a new facility. This was on Green Belt land to the outskirts of the town as part of a wider sports facility in Historic Parkland. The scheme consisted of a new club house with home and away changing rooms, flexible community space and accommodation for the clubs custodians and record of the clubs history, past, present and future. The club house building was integrated into the main stand which provided covered seating for 250 no. supporters, tunnel and home and away dug outs. The main pitch was designed to FA standards and a multiple use Astro pitch capable of sub-division was also provided for senior team training and community use.
The concept of the main club drew on the vernacular of the local barns in the area with Blue Flint stone base and brick corner piers with timber clad infill to the central areas of the main volume.
The aim of North West Estates was to build the new football facility relocating Marlow F.C. then redevelop the existing town centre football ground into housing to serve the increasing local demand in the area.
